Weddings in St John's
We at St John's want your Wedding to be a special and memorable occasion and we wish you well as you begin your journey into married life.
If you have any questions, and before you make any firm decisions or choices about your Wedding Service, please talk to the Vicar first (see "Church Contacts" for details). At St John's we will try very hard to give you the Wedding that you want, but there are some things that may not be possible or don't work that well. The Vicar will go through the procedure for announcing the Banns of Marriage, the format of the Service, the preparation for your Marriage ceremony and will arrange a rehearsal to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day.
In this part of our website you'll find information which will help you with planning your Wedding Day.
Couples are welcome to be married in St John’s, not only if one of them lives or worships here, or is on St John’s Electoral Roll, but also if just one of the following applies to either one of you*:
• you were baptised or prepared for confirmation in St John’s;
• you have at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
• you have ever lived in the Parish for six months or more;
• one of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in your lifetime;
• one of your parents has regularly attended public worship here for six months or more in your lifetime;
• your parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
*All of these refer to Church of England services
